๐Ÿ’…Setting Skins

Skins

Introduction

Skins are a great way to customize your appearance in a hassle-free, all-inclusive way. (As in Vanilla players will see what you look like).

Normally, skins are attached to a Mojang/Microsoft account. Since the server is offline (no login required), and players are not authenticated (at least while in the Launcher), players do not have skins and use default ones. This is where the server's mods come into play.

Using a mod called Fabric Tailor, this allows players to change their skin in-game. For existing usernames, your default skin will be what ever the owner of the account in Microsoft/Mojang sets it to be. You can change it if you don't like it. For unique usernames, your default skin will be Steve or Alex.

Basics

There are 3 ways you can tell the server what you want your skin to be:

  1. Skin of an Existing Mojang/Microsoft Account User

  2. Skin via a direct image URL

  3. Skin via File Upload

The easiest, and least technologically complicated of this would be by using Method 1. Using a website like NameMC. You can find a player that uses a skin that you want to use and input their Username to use their skin.

Guide

The easiest way to do any of the above is by pressing K on your keyboard. This is the default keybind for the Skin Menu.

Skin Menu

If your game crashes (which this menu previously did), you can instead use the commands.

/skin clear : This removes your skin.

/skin set player <UserName> : This sets your skin to a Mojang/Microsoft account skin of the user with the same name.

/skin set upload <classic|slim> <filePath> : This allows you to upload an image of a skin.

/skin set URL <classic|slim> <link> : This allows you to use a direct image link of a skin.
